The Therapy Place offers fun and engaging online speech and language therapy sessions.
All sessions are conducted via Zoom to ensure the health of our clients and community.
Step 1: Before meeting your child for the first time, it is important for us to establish your reasons for seeking help and to discuss important information regarding your child’s medical and developmental history. The information gathered from this appointment is essential to plan your goals and the next steps.
The next steps are the therapy sessions. During the initial sessions (the ‘assessment phase’), the therapist will build a rapport with your child while reviewing and trialling therapy strategies. SMART goals will be devised based on information gathered in the initial sessions.
Subsequent sessions will continue to work towards the goals - which will be reviewed every 6-8 weeks.
*Parent Consultation is mandatory before commencing therapy sessions*
If you only require an assessment for the purposes of a report, this option is available. For example, your school or local authority may have requested a report to evaluate their needs or review progress.
We will discuss your requirements during the parent consultation and guide and advise accordingly.
You may feel that online therapy sessions won’t work with your child because it will be difficult for them to engage with the therapist. In this case, we would recommend Parent-Child Interaction (PCI) sessions.
These sessions involve the therapist working ‘through’ a parent or caregiver. Sessions may involve reviewing video recordings of you implementing strategies that we have discussed in sessions, or the therapist may observe you playing with your child during the appointment.
We can be flexible and determine what works best for you and your child.
